I am constantly speaking to candidates that are not positioning their CV correctly. Some CVs are a shortened version of their job description. The hiring manager is not looking for this, they want to see the capability and performance indictors to succeed in the role.
Optimising your CV and LinkedIn profile will enable hiring managers to identify achievements and successes, as well as the skills and experience they require.
It is therefore essential for you to demonstrate your achievements and successes; clearly express the problems you solve and describe your potential for future success and the outcomes you offer.
If you are a sales professional this means achievement against target, closed deals, and the challenges you have overcome. Having spoken to many sales professionals, I know there is a reluctance to put a “missed” year on your CV. By doing this you only highlight the concern. A great salesperson needs to demonstrate how they have overcome challenges.
You do not achieve this by providing an edited version of your job description.
